Restaurierung einer Marien-Figur
Im Park zw. Elisabethen-Krankenhaus und dem Pflegeheim St. Josef in Frankfurt-Bockenheim gibt es einen kleinen "Betplatz" mit einer ca. 1,20 hohen Marien-Statue aus Keramik. Im Frühjahr 2022 war die Farbbeschichtung der Figur in Brand geraten (vermutlich aufgrund zu dicht und zu zahlreich platzierter Opferkerzen). In der Folge wurde sie durch Vandalismus weiter stark beschädigt.
Als ich die Statue zur Restaurierung abholte, waren Sockel und Teile des Kopfes abgeschlagen, die Scherben in den umstehenden Büschen der Andachtsstelle verstreut. Teile des Gesichts und des Hinterkopfes blieben allerdings unauffindbar.
Die Foto-Serie zeigt den Anfangszustand, die Reparaturphasen sowie den fertigen Zustand am Aufstellungsort Ende Mai 2022 .
Eine zusätzliches Sicherungsgitter mit Schutzscheibe und Blechkonsole für die Kerzenplatzierung wurden angebracht.
Restoration of a figure of the Virgin Mary
In the park between the Elisabethen-Hospital and the St. Josef nursing home in Frankfurt-Bockenheim there is a small "praying area" with an approximately 1.20 high ceramic statue of Virgin Mary. In the spring of 2022, the figure's paint coating caught fire (probably due to sacrificial candles being placed too close and too numerous). As a result, it was further damaged by vandalism.
When I picked up the statue for restoration, the base and parts of the head had been broken off and the shards were scattered in the bushes surrounding the place of worship. However, parts of the face and the back of the head remained untraceable.
The photo series shows the initial state, the repair phases and the finished state at the installation site at the end of May 2022.
