GRASBROOK
Brook means “wet marshland”. Grasbrook is the name of a small peninsular within the habour of Hamburg. 1967 till 2020 Grasbrook was the location for the largest freight-distribution-center in Europe, coined the “Overseas-Center”. Its demolishing took place in 2021 to give way to a new living quarter. In August 2020, I was given the opportunity by the owner HHLA to document the buildings before their removal.

Brook bedeutet „feuchtes Sumpfgebiet“. Grasbrook ist der Name einer kleinen Halbinsel im Hamburger Hafen. Von 1967 bis 2020 befand sich auf der Grasbrook das größte Güterverteilzentrum Europas, das sogenannte „Überseezentrum“. Es wurde 2021 abgebrochen, um Platz für ein neues Wohnquartier zu schaffen. Im August 2020 gab mir die Eigentümerin HHLA die Möglichkeit, die Gebäude noch vor ihrem Abbruch zu dokumentieren.
