Using mainly the local resources clay, wood & sawdust (to adjust the porosity of the clay), the only “high-tech” - ingredient is a coating of nano-particle-silver. Silver metal is a strong catalytic poison effective against all kind of microorganism, which are often contaminating the water in rural areas in Guatemala. I visited the site in 2008.
