LAST RESTS
Ever since I started photographing, I developed a high affinity to graveyards. Below I put together selection of images I took - beside some other places - in the outback of Australia, Guatemala, @ the former Soviet nuclear test area in Kazakhstan, in Penang (Malaysia), Brasilia (Brazil), Basse-Terre (Guadeloupe), Venice, and Barcelona.

Although mostly vanished, there are still traces of the British colonial period to be found in Georgetown, the capital of Penang. Today, the island is dominated culturally by its Chinese majority. Penang’s cemeteries are providing good proofs for this history. The last series are taken on the former “Prisoner Island” Jerejak.
