SLAVUTICH, the new home for Chernobyl's workers
SLAVUTICH was hastily built in 1986 to replace the evacuated and abandoned town of PRIPJAT. It is located about 75 km east of the Chernobyl power plant. Slavutich is the hometown of all those employees and foreign specialists who are working in the shut down nuclear site.
About 10.000 people are living here (2012). The only access to the Chernobyl NPP from here is by train which travels via Belarussian swampy territory.
